Baby Namings and Child Dedication Services
Children are too precious to not celebrate their arrival and the meaning of "family" that they introduce into our lives. As a civil celebrant, I am able to perform any type of ceremony, blessing or dedication your family desires. I am not bound by any particular religious decree or church obligation. The important thing is that this is truly an intimate and life changing milestone for your family that needs to be celebrated your way. I also perform biblical Christian dedication ceremonies for those wishing this type of service.
A Naming Ceremony?
Generally a naming ceremony may include the following:
- Introduction and welcome by the Celebrant
- Acknowledgements of special people in the child's life (such as grandparents)
- Recognition of Siblings and their inclusion in the ceremony
- Promises by Parents
- Godparents introduction, expectations and promises they would like to make to your child
- Special Rituals (optional)
- The Naming of the Child
- Poems and Readings - these can anywhere throughout your ceremony as appropriate
- Signing of the Naming Book
- Presentation of the Certficates
- Final good wish or blessing delivered to the Child by the Celebrant
A beautiful personalised naming certificate is presented to the child. Certificates for grandparents, God parents or sponsors can also be arranged as required.
Naming Ceremonies are usually not religious. However, as it is your ceremony, you can include as much, as little, or absolutely no religious content as you deem appropriate.
A Christian Dedication Ceremony?
I am also able to perform Christian Dedication Ceremonies, for families that may not be able to attend a church or place of worship due to personal reasons or family situations. For more information about a Christian Dedication just make an enquiry.
By having your own Naming or Dedication ceremony you are not bound by any church timetable, religious belief system or decree, service length, or plain church setting.
